What's In Sunless Solution and Products?
Most sunless solutions have two main tanning ingredients, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and Erythrulose. DHA is a monosaccharide sugar, approved by the FDA for external application to the skin. Erythrulose is a sugar derivative.
Are Sunless Solutions and Products Organic?
Sunless solutions and products cannot be claimed as organic as DHA is not an FDA approved organic ingredient. Sunless solutions and products may contain organic ingredients, but that does not make the product organic. California Tan Sunless uses DHA that is Ecocert and Natrue certified, meaning it is pure, all-natural DHA and is derived from renewable sources.
How Do Sunless Solutions and Products Work?
Once DHA is applied, it has a chemical reaction with the proteins found in the skin’s epidermis layer. This reaction results in the protein changing color. Color begins to develop in one to four hours and fully develops in 24-72 hours.
How Long Does a Sunless Tan Last?
A sunless tan applied either at a professional salon or at home will last between 5-7 days due to the skin’s natural exfoliating cycle. Preparing for and taking care of a sunless tan will help the tan last longer.
When Can I Shower after Sunless Solution Application?
With California Tan Sunless® solution and products, you can shower anywhere between 1 to 4 hours. With our Rapid Sunless Solution you can shower as soon as 1 to 2 hours after application. With our Medium and Dark Solutions you can shower 3 to 4 hours after application.

What is the Difference Between Tinted and Clear Solutions?
California Tan Sunless Tinted Solutions have cosmetic bronzers for immediate color, in addition to DHA and Erythulose for delayed color. Our Clear Solution does not have cosmetic bronzers. The color you see with the clear solution is only delayed color.
